The Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz U-Bahn station is part of Line 2 of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe.

Designed by architect Alfred Grenander, the Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz U-Bahn station was built in 1913. It is located on the eastern part of the U2 line, between Alexanderplatz and Senefelder Platz stations. The station runs from north to south below Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße. It was built using the cut-and-cover method as an "under-pavement station" at a simple depth and is connected to the street level at the head ends by two fixed staircases.

The northern exit is located at the intersection of Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße and Torstraße. From the staircases, vestibules lead to the central platform, which is 4.5 m below the grounds. Between the two exits, the platform slab, including the vestibule areas, is 147 m long and has a maximum width of 7.6 m in the middle of the platform. The Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz subway station is a listed building in the Berlin list of monuments, which is located in the city area in a "monument area ensemble". The building, which is now over 100 years old, has suffered a great deal of damage.

Therefore, the basic repair of the station is to be carried out as part of this construction project. In part 1 of the barrier-free extension, an elevator has already been installed. In part 2 of the barrier-free expansion (bA), the guidance system for the blind is to be built as part of this construction project. Furthermore, Part 2 of the bA includes the demolition and disposal of the mastic asphalt as well as the installation of the new mastic asphalt on the platform slab.

A construction period of approx. 48 months is planned for the measure.
