The European Social Survey (ESS) is a Europe-wide, comparative, social science study with the highest methodological standards, which compares and analyzes the social, political, economic and moral attitudes and behaviors of the population of different European countries. The study has been conducted every two years since 2002 and is currently the responsibility of ESS ERIC (City, University of London). In order to guarantee the comparability of the data collected, a coordinated and standardised approach to data collection is essential for the project in all participating countries. To this end, the Director of esS ERIC, together with the International Core Scientific Team (CST), issues project specifications to be observed by the participating countries when implementing the national sub-samples.
