Sykehusapotekene HF [the Hospital Pharmacies] hereby announced a contract has been entered into with Baxter AS regarding aseptic production of a closed system for administration of antibiotics after a prior information notice.
Sykehusapotekene HF intends to renew the Framework Agreement with Baxter AS for aseptic production of a closed system for the administration of antibiotics. The system is currently delivered to Akershus University Hospital and Østfold Hospital. Approximately 200 000 units are delivered each year. The need can only be covered through an agreement with one service provider. The agreement can be expanded to also cover the need for other health companies in the South Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. In accordance with the Pharmacy Act, a Norwegian pharmacy is required to be the product owner. The product ownership is safeguarded by Lørenskog Hospital Pharmacy. The antibiotics are purchased by Lørenskog Hospital Pharmacy and transported to Baxter’s factory. Baxter supplies transfer adapters and bags with 100 ml sodium chloride. The antibiotics, transfer adapter and bag with 100 ml sodium chloride are connected aseptically, packaged in a suitable secondary packaging and transported back to the Contracting Authority. The completed product must have a minimum 1 year shelf-life. The agreement comprises only production of closed systems where they are no equivalent products with marketing authorisation in Norway.
