Description:
Special exhibition Lic ht & Matter - Sign Language Videos

Creation of sign language videos for the new stations

Translator

- Care must be taken to ensure that the translation of sign language takes into account regional dialects and is assigned to the southern German-speaking area.

- In the sign language translator, hands, arms, upper body, head and face should be clearly recognizable, as they are an essential part of the expressive repertoire.

- The background as well as the clothes and hands of the performer are in contrast to each other. The clothing should be dark and monochromatic. The translator is not allowed to wear rings on his fingers, as well as jewelry or a watch on his wrists.

Composition

- The image composition from the sample video provided by the contractor must be reproduced in detail

- Ideally, the actor is positioned in the video window so that a few centimeters remain free above the head and the visible section extends to the belly button.

- With arms stretched out to the side, they are visible up to the wrists. (see sample video)

- The depiction of the lower body should be omitted, as this will only make the translator in the film window unnecessarily smaller.

- Shadows and light/reflections on the body of the performer are to be avoided.

- The lighting must be used in such a way that the depth of the sign space in front of the upper body is clearly perceptible in its spatial dimension. The translator must stand out sufficiently from the background so that the sign space and facial expressions can be easily perceived.

- The facial expressions and mouth image must be clearly visible.

- The background must be static. A black or white background should be avoided
