Planning and construction services for the replacement construction of the Quenzbrücke road bridge system via the UHW/SiK in Brandenburg/ Havel

The Quenzbrücke road bridge crosses the federal highway (B) 1 over the Lower Havel waterway (UHW) or the silo canal (SiK) at km 61.350 in Brandenburg/Havel.

The Quenzbrücke was built between 1966 and 1968 and is of great importance for regional and national traffic, especially between the greater Magdeburg and Berlin areas. B1 is an essential part of the road network and assumes an important function for connecting the Havelland via the city of Brandenburg/ Havel with the entire economic catchment area in a westerly direction, including continuing via the Ziesar junction with the federal highway (BAB) 2. For large commercial and industrial sites, B1 is the main route for the transport of many economic goods. Maintaining the crossing via the silo canal is essential for the city's transport connections, as otherwise there are no sufficiently efficient alternatives.

The Quenzbrücke is designed as a three-span bridge in hollow box prestressed concrete construction with longitudinal and transverse prestressing. The St 140/160 prestressing steel used from Hennigsdorf production is considered to be very sensitive to hydrogen-induced stress corrosion cracking. In 2014 and 2019, prestressing steel samples were taken and examined in the laboratory. As a result of the prestressing steel investigations, several incipient cracks and, in some cases, wire breaks were found. In the course of the demolition of the bridge over the old town railway station of Brandenburg, which was comparable in terms of superstructure structure, there was such a disastrous picture of the prestressing steel installed and now embrittled that a monitoring system for the Quenzbrücke was immediately provided for the Quenzbrücke for the continuous acoustic detection of individual prestressing wire breaks has been set up. Due to increasing wire breakage events, the 2 external lanes were closed and the transferred road traffic was limited to one of the middle directional lanes each with a speed limit of 30 km/h. In addition, the bridge was immediately signposted for the crossing for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 16 t and corresponding bypasses. From then on, weekly inspection measurements and site visits are carried out to check for cracks or other abnormalities.

Within the framework of the engineering contract to be awarded here, the contractor essentially includes the draft budget document (draft HU), the draft execution document (draft-AU), the documents for establishing agreement and conduct according to WaStrG, the tender documents and part of the execution documents for the replacement of the new construction of the erecting bridges. In addition, parts of the special services provided by Lph. 8 are commissioned by HOAI, which include services of construction contract support as well as local construction supervision.
