The Johannesgraben tunnel is a six-lane road tunnel on the B 14 federal highway at the transition to the A 831 federal motorway in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. It was built in the mid-70s of the last century using the open construction method. The tunnel consists of a tube in which the directional lanes are separated from one another by a central wall. The tunnel has 3 lanes in both directions.

The overall measure consists of the renovation work of phase I, which was carried out between 2012 and 2014, as well as the renovation work of phase II, which is scheduled to start at the end of 2021.

The work of phase II includes the renovation of the outer walls including emergency walkways, the renovation of the inclined position of the slat 15 and the renovation of the tunnel lighting system. In addition, further necessary measures (renovation of the ceiling joints, retrofitting of embankment stairs, etc.) are carried out.
