The subject of this call for tenders is the awarding of a framework contract for the bookbinding work of the Trier University Library.

The prerequisite for taking the offer into account is the preparation of a trial order in accordance with the explanations of the trial order described in the specifications [point 2 “trial order”].

Trial order dates

The trial orders can be collected by bidders on request at the Trier University Library, Bindingstelle, Universitätsring 15, 54296 Trier by prior appointment on the following dates:

16.7.2021, 23.7.2021, 30.2021.

The above mentioned contact person in the library only provides the trial orders for collection. There is no explanation or answer to questions about the procurement documents. These must be submitted in writing via the award portal.

The trial order must be submitted to the issuing office (University of Trier, building V, room 118, Universitätsring 15, 54296 Trier) personally and in a sealed package by 11.00 at the latest. The receipt of the trial order is acknowledged accordingly.

The library of the University of Trier consists of a central university library. There are no decentralized libraries.

The media to be stored is archived over a very long period of time and must also withstand intensive use. The objective is to produce bindings within the time specified by the client, which must be carried out in compliance with the quality regulations of RAL-RG 495 and its additions as well as according to DIN 33902.

In the years 2018 to 2020, an average of 3,900 volumes (whole fabric magazines: 2,000, full fabric monographs: 1,000, visual brochure magazines: 200, visual brochure monographs: 700) were bound per year. The volumes are created exclusively in perfect binding. The proportion of volumes with a publishing cover cover is around 10%.

The work is carried out according to the order document (also includes the delivery date).

The binding material is for use in accordance with the “Supplementary provisions for the execution of bookbinding work for the University Library”, as of June 2021 (see list of services) and the “DIN 33902: Information and documentation — requirements for binding library, archive and other paperwork or other printed material made of paper in archives and libraries”. Only library linen Durabel must be used.
