The air monitoring network of the Federal Environment Agency fulfils measurement obligations for national and international measurement programmes. Through measurements, sampling and analysis, data on air quality are collected, which provide information on the pollution of the air by gaseous, particulate or droplet ingredients and their trends and thus observations on the effectiveness of air pollution control measures. The air monitoring network of the Federal Environment Agency of the Federal Republic of Germany therefore collects data using automatic measuring instruments, dust and precipitation collectors, gas samplers and highly sensitive laboratory analysis units. The air constituents, which are found both as trace gases and in dry and wet deposition and are transported by the wind, require a variety of different and special measurement, collection and analysis methods, the application of which is internationally and nationally agreed in order to be able to evaluate results comparably. Therefore, the use of certain methods and types of equipment, which have been shown to be suitable in comparisons and have been suitably tested by an approval, is usually prescribed. This is also the case in this case.
The device must meet the following performances:
Simultaneous continuous detection of N2O, CO and H2O gas concentrations
Measurement interval: N2O, CO, H2O each <5 sec
ICOS Compliance for CO and N2O
