The Ministry of Culture announces the option to applying for compensation for a commercial public service broadcasting assignment. The Ministry will compensate a private commercial company for the net costs for the public service broadcasting assignment, including a reasonable profit, with up to 135 000 000 NOK per annum. The contract period will be five years. The start-up is to be at the latest eight months after the contract has been signed. The start-up date must be clarified in the application. The public service broadcasting assignment (see chapter 6) comprises, amongst other things, requirements to provide daily nationwide news bulletins, based on the tenderer's central news editors, Norwegian language programmes for children and youths as well as premier viewings of Norwegian films and TV dramas. In addition the public service broadcasting assignment also requires that the tenderer must have its main editors and central news editors in Norway, at least 100 km outside the centre of Oslo. The Ministry of Culture will enter into a contract with the applicant who has the best plans for nationwide news bulletins based on the tenderer's central news editors, programmes for children and youths, as well as premier viewings of Norwegian films and TV dramas, see chapter 7.
