Description:
NB72 Nuclear Waste Package Non-Destructive Testing

Non-compliant waste hulls and castles are stored at CEA Paris-Saclay INB72. In the context of reducing the source term of the facility, non-destructive testing is planned to consolidate the radiological data, content and manufacturing quality of the corresponding packages.

The purpose of this service is to carry out mainly the following non-destructive tests: measurements by gamma spectrometry, geo-radar and ultrasound.

The Incumbent carries out the studies necessary to carry out the operations, including the dosimetric handling and forecasting plan. He performs the corresponding safety analysis. The holder is also in charge of handling the packages.

The service covers 70 packages containing irradiant waste. Various types of packages make up this package:

— 25 C1 and C4 shells produced by INB72;

— 1 CBFC2 K shell known as “STELLA shell”;

— 16 so-called historical hulls;

— 12 shells type CF004;

— 12 RD16 used for internal transport;

— 3 SCO castles from the SEL (Leach Test Station);

— a vinylated castle.

The holder carries out of the 70 packages:

— a dose rate measurement at contact and 1 m from the package;

— a measurement of labile surface contamination;

— a visual inspection of the package;

— a weighing of the package;

— non-destructive testing of gamma spectrometry.

The licensee performs non-destructive geo-radar and ultrasonic tests on the 25 C1 and C4 shells, 1 CBFC2 K shell known as the “Stella hull”, and 16 so-called historical hulls.

The lump-sum benefits are broken down into a firm tranche and an option. The firm tranche is for the performance of the following lump-sum benefits:

Item 1 — Preparatory phase for non-destructive testing:

— completion of the documents listed in § 5.2.1 of the specifications;

— carrying out the security analysis of operations;

— provision of a turntable.

Item 2 — Completion of Controls

— carrying out various controls (dose rate measurement, measurement of labile surface contamination, visual inspection of the package, weighing of the package);

— carrying out non-destructive testing on the C1 and C4 hulls;

— carrying out non-destructive testing on the so-called 'Stella' hull;

— carrying out non-destructive tests on the so-called “historical” hulls.

The option is to perform a gamma spectrometry on the 12 CF004, the 12 RD16 and the four castles.

The services on price slips cover the following services:

— BPU #1:2-hour increment for gamma spectrometry measurement;

— BPU No. 2: measurement by gamma spectrometry (duration of six hours);

— BPU No. 3: measurement by gamma spectrometry (duration of twelve hours);

— BPU No. 4: fixation of labile contamination;

— BPU No. 5: Geo-Radar Measurement;

— BPU #6: measurement by ultrasound.
