Description:
Summer Course for Dutch and Foreign Language Students

The assignment involves developing, organizing and conducting an intensive summer course for a group of Dutch and Foreign Language students by an institution or a collaboration of institutions commissioned by and in collaboration with the Taalunie.

Outside the NETHERLANDS and Flanders, about 15,000 students study NVT or Netherlandism in higher education. Dutch or Dutch school is offered as a main subject, secondary course, elective course or language course to about 150 higher education institutions. In addition to their training, it is important that they visit the Dutch language area at least once during their studies. The Taalunie responds to this by organising a summer course NVT every year. The course focuses on motivated students between 18 and 35 years old who are studying NVT or Nederlanddistics at a university or college outside the Dutch language region and both productive and receptive at least at the level B1 of the ECA.

Audience: The course is intended for 100-125 students and lasts at least two weeks.

The assignment concerns the organisation of the summer course for four editions: 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

The maximum available budget per edition is 150 000 EUR.

The course has the following global objectives:

— Offer NVT students a Dutch-language and culture pool,

— To tighten the Dutch language skills (all sharing skills) of NVT students,

— Students NVT enthusiasm for Dutch language and Dutch-language culture and motivate them to continue with Dutch at a professional and/or academic level,

— Giving NVT students opportunities to get acquainted with and actively participate in Flemish and Dutch society in different ways,

— Enhance NVT students in their role as ambassadors for Dutch,

— Enable students to practice NVT intercultural skills,

— Enable NVT students to expand their academic and/or professional network.
