There is a collection scheme for food waste and plastic packaging, where the waste is primarily collected in bags and sacks, in the municipalities served by Vesar AS (the Vesar region) and their cooperating municipalities, Sandefjord and Larvik (~225 000 inhabitants), but containers for plastic packaging are also used in the Vesar region. In addition there are some customers in the Vesar region and Sandefjord who have a sack system for residual waste. The Vesar region also offers to collect garden waste in paper sacks.

Biodegradable bags are used in the current food waste system, but a system is being considered for recycling reject plastic at the treatment facility and a transition to plastic bags could occur during the contract period.

Sacks for the containers for plastic packaging are being considered in order to be able to check customers' sorting quality.

An offer is being considered for sacks for textiles in the Vesar region, plastic sacks could, therefore, be procured for this purpose during the contract period.

See the short description in II.1.4. Bags and sacks shall be offered that cover the systems described here. Transparent sacks with ties shall be offered for plastic packaging and black sacks shall be offered for residual waste. All also offer green extra sacks to their customers for residual waste in addition to ordinary capacity. Paper sacks shall also be offered for garden waste.

As stated, biodegradable bags are currently used for food waste, but an option shall be given for plastic bags for food waste. If the option is taken up, the plastic bags will replace the biodegradable bags.

Sacks for 240 litre and 360 litre containers shall be offered as an option.

Sacks for textiles shall be offered as an option.
