The Irish Blood Transfusion Service collects approximately 140,000 donations per annum in 8 separate clinics. The blood donations are collected from collection clinics each evening and transported to the National Blood Centre. Samples and other materials associated with the blood donations are also transported in conjunction with the donations. The IBTS inter-site transfers red cells, platelets, plasma and medicinal product between NBC and MRTC centres.
