Description:
Archaeological excavation for the development of an industrial estate in the city of Lingen (Ems) - district of Baccum

The city of Lingen (Ems) is planning to develop a business park in the district of Baccum on B214, at the corner of Osnabrücker Straße (L57).

The excavations on the areas in the northern area have already been carried out.

In April 2021, a prospection was already carried out on the area to be dug in the southern area, among other places. The findings point to a settlement of the Iron Age. In the 9 search trenches, 50 discolorations were found, which have an uneven distribution over the property. Among them seem to be some naturally caused discoloration. The many tree throws, which usually appear only indistinctly, are striking. Through them, supposed findings could be sorted out as components of tree throws. On the areas, boulders and pebbles up to 30 cm in size occurred below the level level, mainly on the higher terrain level in the south and southwest. In addition, a solid reddish-brown boulder clay was found in the southwest.
