The Albertinen Hospital/Albertinen Haus non-profit GmbH (AKHAH) is a subsidiary of Immanuel Albertinen Diakonie gGmbH.

The Immanuel Albertinen Diakonie emerged in January 2019 from the merger of the Albertinen Diakoniewerk in Hamburg and the Immanuel Diakonie in Berlin and stands for bundled expertise for people in challenging life situations. Around 7,700 employees in the federal states of Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia generate annual sales of around 630 million euros. The group of companies includes clinics, medical care centers, senior institutions as well as addiction care facilities, disability assistance, child and youth welfare, psychosocial counseling, and physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Fast-growing service companies in the areas of hospital logistics, purchasing, information technology, medical technology and process management, facility management, housekeeping, food supply and manual services round off the service profile. The increasing demands and patient numbers in recent years, as well as infection prevention in the context of the current pandemic, make it necessary to convert and expand the existing premises in the central emergency department.

In addition to optimising work processes, these measures also serve to improve the acoustic room climate for both employees and patients.

The Albertinen Hospital intends to convert and expand the central emergency room to provide adequate patient care in its existing premises. The central emergency department is currently located in the Albertinen Hospital's main wing on the ground floor, which opened in 2014, with 1,069 square meters and is to be expanded to 1,432 square meters. For the purpose of expansion, premises adjacent to the ZNA will be integrated into the ZNA.

The entire project is ongoing. Processes in the central emergency department and in the rest of hospital operations must be guaranteed at all times, and restrictions for patients, visitors and employees as well as supply and disposal must be minimized. Construction work for the project is from spring to autumn (March to October), as the central emergency room is used to its maximum during the winter months.
