Some fundamental properties of graphene and other layered materials can be studied only in a low temperature environment and in the presence of an intense magnetic field. At the moment the minimum temperature that can be achieved at the Cambridge Graphene Centre is 9K with 2T magnetic field. We therefore require a probe station which allows us to lower the minimum achievable temperature and increase maximum magnetic field. We expect the machine will run continuously during working days and have a high volume of users.
