The bill of quantities includes the provision of various equipment and techniques for the Smart Composites project, which will enable the development of new intelligent composite materials, more flexible and efficient
product systems, individualized and highly specialized materials as well as additional high-performance technologies for their production and investigation. Some of these are upgrades of existing systems (upgrading of firmware and software of an existing tensiometer). For example, an ozone generator system is to be purchased. Furthermore, investments in a vacuum evaporator, two vacuum drying ovens and a laboratory AirCoat are to be invested in the Smart Composites project.
The 1: VakuumtrockenschränkeThe vacuum drying ovens to be purchased are used in particular for the fast and gentle drying of temperature-sensitive materials in various forms (powders, granules, plates, etc.). Due to the vacuum, lower temperatures can be used and any disturbing reactions with the ambient air during drying can be avoided. As a result, temperature-sensitive substances can also be used for the development of new high-performance composites. In order to be able to work as flexibly as possible and to be able to avoid contamination between, for example, hydrophobic or oleophobic and adhesion-promoting substances, even during changing work, two vacuum drying ovens are to be purchased.

The 2: VakuumverdampferThe evaporator advertised here is intended to be used to coat substrates with Teflon AF, which has special repellent and dielectric properties (electret material). For the coating, the polymer must be transferred to the gas phase and the layer thickness should be tracked during deposition on the substrate. The aim is to create a layer that is as homogeneous as possible without pores. A tabletop device is to be purchased that can be controlled as directly as possible via a display on the device.

The 3: OzongeneratorAs a highly reactive gas, ozone is one of the relevant loads for resistance studies of composite materials, so that the stability should be investigated on the basis of appropriate tests and, if necessary, appropriate material modifications or protective functions should be created. Ozone is also able to react directly with a large number of materials. Therefore, the ozone generator system will be used for the pre-treatment of low-energy plastics and fillers as well as for the investigation of the ozone resistance of composite materials.

All 4: Labor-AirCoatBy means of the laboratory aircoat, the application of low to high viscosity (almost pasty) coating materials should be made possible even in only moderate quantities (laboratory scale). In order to be able to practice this with a variety of different materials in appropriate quality, a combination of an air-assisted and airless sprayer is necessary.
