The service is for the Delivery of Out of Area Termination of Pregnancy Services (ToPS) for City and Hackney. The purpose of this abortion service is to provide greater access for City and Hackney women (and younger females) to where they can be seen, a choice of abortion methods which are timely and safe depending on the personal health, gestation and circumstances of the individual woman (and younger females), to reduce repeat abortions and unintended pregnancies and to promote better sexual health among women (and younger females).

City and Hackney “Out of Area” Termination of Pregnancy Service:

The service shall provide abortion services to women and younger females referred to any approved Provider, giving greater geographical access to women and younger females seeking abortion services. The Provider will deliver the full pathway “Up to 24 weeks gestation”.

Providers commissioned for out of area abortion services shall ensure that the overall Service is consistent, effective, comprehensive, legal and of demonstrably high quality. It shall respect the dignity, privacy, individuality and rights of women and younger females to exercise personal choice over their care and treatment. The service shall be provided in accordance with the grounds specified in the Abortion Act 1967 and amended by Section 37 of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990.
