Beschaffung Sophos Managed Detection and Response Complete (Sophos MDR)
In July 2023, the Sophos Intercept X software was introduced at the Philipps University of Marburg. This serves to protect the
physical and virtual IT devices used at the university against malicious software such as viruses, spyware, exploitware, ransomware, malware, DoS attacks. Performance includes detecting malicious software and isolating malware-infected endpoints and servers. All university devices protected with Sophos Intercept X
communicate with the multi-tenant cloud service (Sophos Central).
To secure the university's IT infrastructure, a product extension of the endpoint protection 'Sophos Managed
Detection and Response Complete (Sophos MDR) can be used to ensure round-the-clock analysis by an external team of highly specialized security personnel.
Sophos MDR helps the university detect and respond to cyber threats. The provider analyzes
round-the-clock the system data and alerts generated by the university's devices and executes them
Results are combined with the results of other customers of the provider. This can lead to new threat patterns
which can be entered directly into the university's system. In addition, in the event of specific IT security incidents,
a dedicated contact person is available to prevent a new IT security incident through a more in-depth root cause analysis.
The use of this additional service by Sophos MDR must be implemented as quickly as possible to protect the university's IT infrastructure.
