It is planned to renew the retaining wall Riedelstraße in the district Reudnitz-Thonberg in Leipzig from 10/2025-03/2027 by a replacement new building with partial repair.
According to the present design plan, it is planned to basically preserve the retaining wall of station 0+000 to 0+047 km, only to remove and renew the wall head and to reinforce the retaining wall at the rear. From station 0+047 to 0+129 km, the wall is to be replaced by a flat-based angle support structure made of reinforced concrete. In order to recreate the previous structure of the visible surface of the wall, monument protection is to be taken into account by using appropriate matrices to replicate the existing arch segments, pillar structures and corbels. The fall protection is to be modelled by concrete parapet elements according to the former existing situation.
In connection with the renewal of the retaining wall, the adjacent Riedelstraße traffic facility will be fundamentally expanded to 176 m. The existing pipeline stock will be partially reclassified or partially renovated. When expanded, the traffic facility should have a lane width of 5.50 m, a one-sided parking strip for longitudinal parkers and sidewalks on both sides with a width of usually 2.50 m.
