Collection, Transportation and Disposal of General Waste and Hazardous Non Healthcare Waste from Amersham and Wycombe Hospitals

Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust invites applicants for the above named contract which is being advertised in accordance with the Public Contract Regulations 2006 [as amended].

All waste uplifted must be handled in accordance with all applicable legislation and Codes of Practice or Guidance and interested parties will need to demonstrate that they have the experience and can meet the requirements of the service if they are to proceed to Tender stage.

The Trust requires the successful contractor to provide a mixed recycling compactor at both the Amersham and High Wycombe sites. The capital cost of the compactors together with maintenance and service costs must be included as part of the collection costs. The Trust is not in a position to either purchase or lease the compactors.

It is envisaged that the Trust will consider bids for five and ten year contracts.

It is the intention of the Trust to work in partnership with the Contractor to develop and demonstrate the following value adding services during the contract life:

— Training and information for key/frontline staff in best practice waste management principals,

— Effective segregation of waste,

— Introducing sustainable systems to minimise waste,

— Deliver sustainable recycling/reuse opportunities,

— Improvement in waste management/minimisation across the trust to reach NHS targets during the course of the contract.
