Stor-Elvdal, Åmot, Trysil, Engerdal and Elverum municipalities shall enter into framework agreements for veterinary services for clinical veterinary duty services. Elverum municipality is the host municipality and has been given the administrative responsibility for veterinary duty services in both districts.
The municipalities are responsible for organising clinical veterinary duty services.
The veterinary duties scheme was established in accordance with the Act from 15 June 2001 No 75 on veterinary surgeons and other animal health personnel § 3 a.
The scheme with veterinary duties shall ensure that the municipality or the intermunicipality establish a clinical duty scheme for veterinary surgeons in all parts of the country, so that necessary veterinary help can be obtained outside ordinary working hours. The veterinary duty is a necessary part of the stand-by against serious infectious animal diseases and it is important for maintaining good animal welfare.
The contract includes veterinary duty services in the duty district Elverum/Åmot/ Stor-Elvdal and the duty district Trysil/Engerdal. Based on previous practice in areas north of Stor Elvdal and east of Åmot, the contracting authority makes a reservation that it can be negotiated to involve external veterinarians to these areas so that in practice it will be as it is today after the tender contest.
To cover the veterinary duty scheme’s need, a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 8 agreements will be signed fore each of the two districts.
