Jernbanedirektoratet will announce the preferred contract partner for the traffic package Østland 2 in September 2022. Flytoget is one of two government owned passenger train companies that are in a position to take over Østlandet 2.

Flytoget is making preparations and plans a start-up of Østlandet 2 in December 2023. In this context, it is necessary to enter into an agreement for alternative transport in non-conformance situations that may arise in connection with the operation of the traffic package.

The contest for maintenance is subject to Flytoget, via a direct award from Jernbanedirektoratet, being awarded a contract for public passenger transport by train in traffic package Østlandet 2, with a start-up of traffic in December 2023.

The aim of this contest is to enter into a contract for alternative transport that will be used in the traffic package. The contract is planned to be signed in December 2022, with one tenderer. The preparation for the start-up of traffic will start immediately after the award of contract, and the planned contract duration is eight years from the start-up of traffic, with an option for a further two years.
