Hybrid multifunctional metamaterials — once available — will have superior functionality as compared to ‘single-function’ metamaterials, combining several functions (e.g. in Optronics and Radio Frequency domains) in one module, which could lead to benefits in terms of size, weight and power — and cost (SWAP-C).
The main objective of this project is to study and analyse the application of hybrid multifunctional metamaterials in defence areas identified. The goal is the development of a unique proof of concept, that is responsive, via the utilisation of suitable metamaterials, to challenging multifunctionality requirements. The proof of concept shall be modular, in order to be adapted to various requirement configurations.
