Description:
Develop and provide a clinical decision support system to assist the health care provider in the electronic prescribing of radiological examinations

Today, the Belgian recommendations on radiology are accessible to the public in plain text form in a file on the website of the FPS Public Health. These recommendations are outdated and not easy to use. As part of the e-Health Action Plan 2019-2021, it is necessary to set up a user-friendly system to integrate updated radiological recommendations into the clinical workflow.

This requires a stand-alone application that searches the current, qualitative, evidence-based decision rules for desired recommendations (based on simple search) and then presents them to the prescribing physician to help electronically prescribe radiological examinations for both general practitioners and specialists.

This standalone application is referred to in this text as the Prescription Search Support for radiology platform (PSSr). The Belgian PSSr platform is part of a larger PSS (Prescription Search Support platform) and the development of the Belgian PSSr platform will be carried out by the developer of this PSS platform (referred to in this text as the "PSS platform developer"). Therefore, the development of the PSSr platform is not part of these specifications.

The aim is for prescribers' software packages to be integrated into the Belgian PSSr platform, which makes the decision rules available.

When working with a Belgian PSSr platform, there should be only one integration of software packages for prescribers with the Belgian PSSr platform. In this way, any change of decision rule provider (whether through an external solution or not) will not impact the prescribing physicians' software.

Thus, the service provider's solution should not be directly integrated into the software packages of prescribing physicians. The integration between the software packages of prescribing doctors will be done via the Belgian PSSr platform and is not part of the tasks described in these specifications. On-demand support from the PSS platform developer is only planned for the first two software packages to be integrated into the Belgian PSSr platform.
