Through Water Directive (WFD 2000/60/EC), Norway has committed to manage all the water in Norway in a comprehensive ecological way. The directive sets a goal that good environmental status must be maintained or achieved in our water sources. The condition is measured on the basis of both ecological and chemical conditions.

The assignment applies to 2012 and involves:

— Sampling / research in the fields of phytoplankton, water, vegetation, small crustaceans, benthos and fish in the lakes in accordance with the methodology specified in the Guide 2: 2009 monitoring of the environment in water - supervisor for water monitoring in accordance with the Water Regulations http://www.vannportalen.no/Overvaakingsveileder_Versjon_1-5_20100430_4QlMn.pdf.file, and described in Appendix 3a and b,

— Sampling in the fields of physical-chemical parameters support, nutritional status, acidification condition, temperature and oxygen balance, see appendix 3a,

— Laboratory analyses of samples in accordance with standardised and/or internationally published and recognised methodology,

— Overall evaluation and reporting of collected data.
