The requested equipment is needed for pre-surgery cancer staging. Gastro surgical department is dependent on having these examinations done prior to operation of oesophagus cancer and approx. 50 % of the procedures that are done with this equipment involves presurgery cancer staging. The equipment is also used for FNA for cancer diagnostics (ultrasound-guided Fine Needle Aspiration biopsy of tumours), for drainage of cysts and abscesses in the pancreas etc. New EUS equipment makes it possible to reach previously inaccessible areas of the intestine (duodenum) and is considerably more pleasant for the patient, thus permitting the contracting authority to do these procedures under sedation rather than under general anaesthesia. The contracting authority points out that the procedures performed under general anaesthesia require the equipment to be moved to the patient, which places demands on equipment mobility.
Furthermore, it is emphasised that the risk of complications is significantly reduced by the use of EUS equipment for this type of treatment. We currently use radial endoscopes, linear endoscopes with light source, together with processors and ultrasonic devices for receiving and processing the images received from the endoscopes. The contracting authority requests tenders for similar equipment as described above.
The department/clinic currently performs an estimated 80 surveys per year with this equipment, and the contracting authority emphasises that they want the expected lifetime costs for the equipment and supplies specified in the tender. The number of examinations is increasing, and this puts demands on the expected life of the equipment offered in this tender procedure.
Provision of the required training for all personnel who work in the affected units must be included in the delivery.
The tender applies to the procurement of equipment for EUS treatment at the Medical Clinic at St.
EUS is currently performed using radial endoscopes and linear endoscopes with light source/processor, as well as an ultrasound device. The contracting authority currently has EUS equipment from 2006, and we would like this tendering procedure to look at alternative methods of "storing" new equipment for simplified use and logistics (see attached specifications).
The following equipment being sought in this competitive bidding:
1 radial endoscope;
1 linear endoscope;
1 light source/processor;
1 ultrasound device;
1 water pump to be able to flush water through the working luminal channel in the offered endoscope.
The contracting authority has opened the possibility to reuse existing linear endoscopes (see attached specifications) for the setting of coarse stents, e.g. drainage of pseudocysts from the pancreas. Tenderers are requested to include in their offer equipment that is compatible with this or offer a solution for linear endoscopes for placing rough stents. A separate line for this is given in Annex B, Price Schedule. The contracting authority will answer all questions, but answers cannot be expected after the stated deadline for questions in this competitive bidding.
