This opportunity is for the hire of cars and passenger vehicles (up to 9 seat MPVs) and light commercial vehicles (up to 3 500 kgs gross vehicle weight) along with the option to provide 4 x 4 and electric cars on a short to medium term hire basis to supplement Devon County Council's own vehicle fleet. Devon County Council intends to appoint a single primary contractor from whom all hires will be initially requested and secondary contractor to undertake those hires that the primary contractor cannot fulfil. The contract is for a period of 5 years commencing in October 2019 and expiring in September 2024.

The contract will be the principal means of service provision for DCC to meet its hire vehicle needs. It is envisaged that East Devon District Council and Dartmoor National Park Authority will use this arrangement as a route to hire vehicles. The position of the other member organisations within the Devon and Cornwall Procurement Partnership is reserved for the use of the arrangement however currently there is no commitment from these organisations as to their use of the arrangement. The contract value is stated as 1 500 000 GBP, it is anticipated that the primary contractor will deliver the majority of the vehicle hires and the secondary contractor will deliver the minority of the vehicle hires.
