The city of Ditzingen intends to build a new daycare center on the property on the street "An der Lehmgrube" in Ditzingen. Due to the high demand for daycare places, the new construction of the 5-group daycare center is intended to cover the increased need for care.
The approx. 2,580 m² plot of land intended for the new development is located on the outskirts of Ditzingen. The special feature of the task is the integration of the new development into the urban context with the adjacent small-scale residential development and the refugee facility as well as the limitation by the green noise barrier.
Furthermore, due to the limited size of the planning area, an optimized use of land is to be developed.

As an approach, two crèche groups (U3) with a total of 20 children and three kindergarten groups (Ü3) with a total of 65 children should be assumed. Despite the different areas of use - daycare groups Ü3 and crèche U3 - the childcare facility should be able to be experienced as a house if possible. In this context, the neutrality of use of the spatial design will also be considered in particular with regard to future developments and changing needs. Both age groups (U3 and Ü3) should be able to be cared for both on the ground floor and on the upper floor.
The architectural concept should take into account a compact structure with a two-storey construction. Overall, special attention should be paid to a harmonious embedding in the surrounding buildings and the existing green structure. For the new building, a timber construction or timber hybrid construction method is desired.
The aim of this implementation competition is to obtain a high-quality, economical and sustainable building for this location that responds appropriately and in high quality to the respective urban planning, functional and economic requirements. In doing so, the general conditions specified in the award must be taken into account.
