The Customs Department c/o the Customs Directorate (Customs) as held a negotiated procedure for the procurement of a central processing system with the accompanying interface for a new vehicle and registration plate recognition. The procurement also included a contract for the maintenance and further development of the system, as well as assistance with planning and rolling out camera and sensor technology. An option for a contract for the operation of the system was also included as part of the procurement, however tenderers could choose whether or not to submit a tender for this. Customs made procurement on behalf of Customs, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) and the Police Department (the Police). The Police have an option to establish a separate central processing system.
