Contract for the provision of biomass handling services at the Port of Tyne in South Shields.
The Port of Tyne (‘Port’) is seeking to appoint a specialist supplier for the provision of services at its existing facility at South Shields, namely the receiving of biomass fuel being woodchip/wood pellet from the quay, conveying to the storage facility by use of tipper trucks, the material handling and stock management whilst in storage and the reclamation to a rail loading silo for onward dispatch. The service provider will be required to supply all personnel and equipment necessary for the provisions of the services; wheeled Loading shovels must be appropriately classified to operate within a Zone 22 T3 rated facility. The contract is for an initial period of 5 years, with 2 options for the Port to extend the term by a period of 12 months each. The value shown in this notice assumes that both of these options are exercised and is based on an assumed annual throughput of 1 000 000 tonnes at an assumed price. Actual throughput and pricing may vary but the contract will include an annual guaranteed volume.
