Public service contract by open procedure for the restoration of the skeleton of a diplodocid dinosaur for the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences

This contract concerns the preparation of bones of a Late Jurassic dinosaur Diplodocidae from Kaycee, Wyoming.

The contract consists of two parts:

Part 1:

Preparation and restoration of discovered bones:

- Preparation of fossils by conventional techniques: micro-striker, micro-sandblaster, micro-engraver,...

- Consolidation and regluing of broken, cracked or weakened parts using glues, plaster or synthetic resins, ...

As much as possible, restorations should be reversible without risk of damaging the original parts of the fossils.

Part 2:

Reconstruction of missing bones or parts of bones:

- By anatomical sculpture and/or casts or prints on other comparable specimens.

- Recovery of patina gaps using Dalgan, oxides (tints) or paints.

Further information on the minimum technical requirements is provided in Part B 'Technical requirements' of these product specification.
