The Ministry would like to carry out a major review of the enforcement apparatus for equality and non-discrimination. The aim is to strengthen law enforcement and to ensure control of the directorate's assignments. This shall be done by, amongst other things, separating the promotor and law enforcement assignments.

The Ministry would also like a review of how LDN's authority can be extended so that they are given the authority to set compensation. It is assumed that this part of the assignments is handled by an experience lawyer with expertise in the area, and in close dialogue with the contracting authority.

The review shall form the basis for the Ministry's decision on a new organisation of the enforcement apparatus.

A new model for the enforcement apparatus shall build on the current structure, i.e. on an Equality and Discrimination Ombudsman (LDO), an Equality and Discrimination Commission (LDN) and on the Children, Youth and Family Directorate (Bufdir).

2 concrete models shall be sketched for the new organisation of the enforcement apparatus. One model shall sketch an organisation where LDN is given extended authority, i.e. the right to set compensation. The other model shall sketch an organisation where LDN is not given extended authority.

Concrete proposals to law and regulation amendments are to be presented.
