The market Manching is a market with about 13,000 inhabitants in the Upper Bavarian district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm and is located southeast of Ingolstadt.

The Paar, which flows into the Danube a few kilometres further on, flows through the centre of the village. Via the Ingolstädter Straße, which runs together with the Geisenfelder Straße from east to west through Manching and is the main thoroughfare in Manching, the Paar is crossed with the Paarbrücke.

The existing Paarbrücke was widened as part of the redesign of Ingolstädter Straße. In order to create a 2nd crossing over the Paar, which is to serve as a replacement if the existing Paarbrücke is not usable, Markt Manching is planning the construction of a new 2nd Paarbrücke, which will connect Niederfelder Straße and Paarstraße.

In order to check the feasibility, preliminary studies were carried out for the new construction of the 2nd bridge.

In 2009, the basic feasibility was reviewed and confirmed, but it was also found that the ramps would be too steep with a conventional reinforced concrete structure.

A 2nd feasibility study in 2020 came to the conclusion that the higher freeboard requirements (flood protection measures) for the bridge, as well as the road construction criteria, can be met with the construction of a steel-reinforced concrete composite structure.

At the same time, the preliminary planning for the traffic facilities (integration of the bridge structure to existing roads: Schulstraße, Paarstraße, Niederfelder Straße) was commissioned.

The assumed costs for the new construction of the bridge are approx. 2 million euros net. The new bridge has a span of about 25 m.

On the basis of the preliminary studies and preliminary planning, the Manching market decided to realize the construction of the 2nd pair bridge. Construction of the bridge structure is scheduled to begin in 2025.

It is planned to start planning the bridge before the end of 2023.
