In order to create the spatial conditions for the civil engineering and architecture courses at Kiel University of Applied Sciences, the state of Schleswig-Holstein intends to build a new building with the areas and rooms necessary for the modern, future-oriented courses of study.
In order to ensure adequate spatial and economic equipment of the study programmes, taking into account the university-specific framework conditions, an open, two-stage implementation competition in accordance with RPW 2013 was carried out in a first step for this task. The prizes of the architectural competition were awarded in July 2022. The corresponding assignments for the service profiles object planning buildings and interiors and outdoor facilities are carried out within the framework of a VgV procedure that is already underway and following the competition.
A building planned for both degree programs is intended to provide both degree programs with an appropriate location on campus as well as synergies with regard to the shared use of rooms (lecture halls, seminar rooms, workshops, offices administration, etc.). The integration of the required parking spaces for cars (parking deck/underground car park) is part of the design task. In order to keep the construction time as short as possible, a construction method with a high degree of prefabrication should be considered from the upper edge of the raw floor on the ground floor. This also enables a high degree of dismantling / dismantling and reusability of the components / materials used.
For the new building for the degree programs Civil Engineering and Architecture, a certification according to the evaluation system Sustainable Building for Federal Buildings (BNB), BNB system variant teaching buildings is planned. Certification according to BNB Standard Gold is to be sought.
The requirements of the guideline – sustainable construction – according to the system BNB (system variant teaching buildings) are to be taken into account by the contractor in the planning and construction of the entire construction project. The basis is formed by the sustainability goals to be set by the client.
