General:
The Baltic Sea Cycle Path runs from Flensburg via Lübeck through Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to the german-Polish border in Ahlbeck and is one of the best-known and most important long-distance cycle paths in the state of M-V. It is also identical to the German section of the EuroVelo Route EV10 (total length approx. 8,000 km) as D-Netz route D2 of the cycle network for Germany, which leads as a long-distance cycle path around the Baltic Sea and with a length of about 1100 km also has European significance beyond the inner-German borders.
Between the Hanseatic city of Stralsund and the university and Hanseatic city of Greifswald, the Baltic Sea Cycle Route is currently coming from the north parallel to the B105 on the old B96 and then runs from the city of Mesekenhagen via the district road VG 2 to Greifswald. Due to the poor condition of the route in many sections for use as a national long-distance cycle path and to reach tourist attractions and facilities, the cycle path between Stralsund and Greifswald must be renovated.
The municipalities of Neuenkirchen, Wackerow and Mesekenhagen have jointly agreed on a new route and entrusted the Amt landhagen with the implementation of the project. The total distance of this section of approx. 6,300m is divided into four construction phases (1.BA from Neuenkirchen to KP VG3/B105 "Kieshofer Moor" / 2.BA from KP VG3/B105 to Mesekenhagen "Kieshof Ausbau" / 3.BA the location Mesekenhagen "Ortslage Mesekenhagen" / 4.BA from Orts location Mesekenhagen to VG1 "Kowall / Naturerlebnispark"). The planned facility is to be operated inside and outside the local areas as a cycling facility and in mixed traffic almost parallel to the B105 in bidirectional traffic. Construction phases 1 to 3 are currently under construction.
The 4th construction phase "Kowall / Naturerlebnispark" has a length of approx. 1,000 m. The challenge in this section lies in the traffic management during the construction period and must be realized in smaller sections, as the Gristow Nature Adventure Park must always be accessible via one of the two access roads.
