In order to properly guide people with low literacy to a place on the labour market or within vocational education, it is necessary that teachers, employers and other professionals are aware of the challenges and points of attention in order to help this target group in a targeted manner. Support should be provided in the further professionalisation of teachers, employers and other professionals so that they recognise low literacy, know how to discuss basic skills and how this should ultimately be put into practice to help the target group of people with low literacy.
The scope of the assignment
The assignment consists of the development of the right methodology on the one hand, and actually giving the training / courses to give teachers, employers and professionals the tools needed in tackling low literacy on the other hand.
P1: Professionalisation of teachers of vocational subjects and practical trainersFor the proper guidance of the illiterate, it is necessary that teachers in vocationally oriented subjects are better aware of the needs and points of attention of this target group. The core of this is learning to connect basic skills to professional skills. These teachers must be supported to gain such knowledge so that they can participate in the LLO Collectives from the growth fund project.
The Assignment therefore consists of the following parts:
1. Inventory of previous research and already developed training / methods aimed at teachers.
2. The adaptation of the Basic Skills Teacher Framework to the target group of illiterate people.
3. The elaboration of an additional module / building blocks - specifically aimed at low literacy and professional skills - in the same way as the existing modules in collaboration with teachers of basic skills and vocational education.
4. The implementation phase by developing and giving training to teachers in the use of the framework.
5. The evaluation and adjustment of the developed modules and the training.
