In the AVR container warehouse on the Jülich site, JEN stores 152 CAS TOR® THTR/AVR casks (AVR containers) loaded with 288161 spherical graphitic fuel assemblies from the AVR. The storage takes place within the framework of an order of the competent nuclear regulatory authority (Ministry of Economic Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia, MWIKE) according to §19 para. 3 AtG. JEN has applied for a storage permit for this existing building. In addition to the storage of the AVR containers, JEN operates a handling area for the maintenance and dispatch of the AVR containers, which is approved according to § 9 AtG.
In order to comply with the order for immediate evacuation, JEN is pursuing the transport of the AVR containers to the Ahaus transport container (TBL-A) and, in parallel, the construction of a new interim storage facility (§6 AtG) in Jülich.
The subject of the service is quality-assured elaboration as well as the preparation of revisions of documents on the above-mentioned approval and supervisory procedures in accordance with §6 and § 9 AtG.
