Statistics Denmark wants a monthly collection of retail prices for use in compiling the Consumer and Net Price Indices as well as the EU-harmonised consumer price index. Statistics Denmark is bound by both Danish and EU legislation in connection with the compilation of the relevant price indices. The offer includes the collection of prices from approx. 300 stores, selected by Statistics Denmark, distributed in 20 urban areas across the country.
Prices must be collected from supermarkets, specialist shops (e.g. butchers, flower shops and bakers), clothing stores and shoe shops. From each supermarket, 50-80 prices are typically collected, from each specialty store typically 5-20 prices are collected, from each clothing store typically 8-25 prices are collected, and from each shoe store typically 15-20 prices are collected. The selected shops must be visited each month by a price collector. The collection takes place by the price collector himself going around the store and collecting prices. Prices are entered on a mobile phone (or similar equipment) provided to the service provider by Statistics Denmark. The collection period is from the 7th to the 18th of the month spread over two working weeks. So far, between 15-20 price collectors have handled the task. However, the future number will be determined by the service provider. Prior to the assignment and during the term of the contract, Statistics Denmark may require training activities to be carried out for service providers' prize collectors.
