The source must enable stable operation in ultra-high vacuum conditions in a molecular beam epitaxy reactor and give a relatively large stream of atoms, e.g. niobium, allowing for a growth velocity of 0.2 μm/h. The solution is to allow easy filling of the source without the need to aerate the entire chamber, as well as allow to change the position of the electron beam, which will ensure homogeneity of the stream and save frequent exchange of targets. The source will be mounted in the expanded preparatory chamber of the Gen20A reactor.
