The contract is to provide integrated street cleansing and horticultural services in the District of Aylesbury Vale. The principal street cleansing activities include cleaning the town centres of Aylesbury, Buckingham, Wendover and Winslow; mechanical sweeping of highway channels and footpaths in the remainder of the District; litter picking highways, footpaths and open spaces in the remainder of the District; removal of domestic and major flytipping; de-icing metalled areas, car parks and other areas of land owned by the District Council (and snow clearance associated with the same areas); chewing gum and graffiti removal; leaf and seasonal blossom fall collection; emptying litter and dog waste bins and other miscellaneous cleaning. The principal horticultural service activities include general grounds maintenance works, including grass cutting on District Council land; management/maintenance of sports grounds including artificial sports surfaces; safety inspections and repair of play areas; maintenance of herbaceous borders; bedding displays; hanging baskets; hedgerows and shrub beds; aboricultural works; and other services including without limitation the supply of plant material, grass seeding and turfing and 'one off' horticultural works. In addition the contractor will be required to set up and dismantle the market stalls which serve the Aylesbury market operated by the District Council, and to undertake other minor duties associated within the market.Grass cutting of highway verges within Aylesbury, Buckingham and Winslow and within the restricted 30mph speed limit zone in rural locations in the District on land owned by Buckinghamshire County Council may also be included in the contract.
