The UMC Utrecht intends to purchase at least four, and possibly six, new heart lung machines and heater coolers, including their maintenance for the intended lifespan of at least 12 years.

The option to purchase two additional (i.e. a total of six) heart lung machines and heater coolers stems from the decision to close the children's heart centre in the WKZ, for which legal proceedings are currently underway.
