The subject of the commission is the fundamental updating of the district-wide biotope mapping. The last comprehensive biotope type mapping took place in the period 1989-1991 in the course of the preparation of the landscape framework plan at that time.

The updated biotope type mapping is intended to provide, among other things, the following:

- an up-to-date overview of the legally protected biotopes and protected agricultural components;

- a sound basis for biotope network planning as well as

- a sound basis for the assessment of grassland change applications.

The contract thus includes a full-surface biotope mapping as well as a selective survey of the legally protected biotopes according to § 30 BNatSchG in conjunction with § 24 NAGBNatSchG and the protected landscape components (here wall hedges) according to § 22 Abs. 3 NAGB-NatSchG.
