The traffic situation on the existing B 87 in Bad Kösen is characterized by a high proportion of through traffic. With the aim of relieving the town centers and ensuring the health resort status, the construction of the bypass (OU) is necessary. The new construction of the B 87 is classified as an urgent requirement in the 2003 Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan.

The planned OU Bad Kösen i. Z. d. The B 87 has a total length of 13.25 km. The construction route begins in the west east of the Taugwitz location, where the route of the B 87 is swiveled to the southeast. In the further course the Saale is crossed in the course of a large bridge at Kleinheringen. The route then leads south around Bad Kösen. About 1 km east of the Neuflemmigen locality, the new road ends with the connection to the crossing B 88 federal road.

Technical systems for drainage will be built along the new construction route. This involves a total of 7 drainage basins (4 rain retention basins (RRB) and 3 infiltration basins (VSB)).

Furthermore, a noise protection wall and a bat flyover aid are to be built. The noise barrier has a length of approx. 300 m and a height of approx. 2.00 m to 3.50 m.

The total construction costs, including the structures, amount to approx. 159.4 million euros gross.

- Local construction supervision for traffic facilities (including dismantling and equipment works: in particular marking, signage, protective devices, traffic management during the construction period) and for engineering structures (rain retention basins, infiltration basins, bat flyover aid) as a special service according to HOAI 2013 Annex 13, number 13.1 to § 47 paragraph 2 and Appendix 12, Item 12.1 to Section 43 Paragraph 4;

- Safety and health protection coordination in accordance with the construction site ordinance;

- Partial services of environmental construction supervision.
