The purpose of the assignment is to provide annually updated knowledge on how vulnerable the population is to various main groups of crime against private individuals. Furthermore, the objective is also to provide knowledge on the population's anxiety and uneasiness for being exposed to various forms of crime. To achieve this purpose, the project consists of three main lots that must be conducted: An annual population survey, analysis of the results and distribution of data and analysis.

The survey shall be based on the work that was carried out by the National Safety Survey 2020. The survey must as far as possible form the basis for time series on the development of crimes. This means that the existing questionnaire shall be used, and that the system for data collection will largely be replicated. However, there are opportunities for further development and adaptations of both the questionnaire and the methodology if it results in a better illustration of the extent of crimes.

The main results of the surveys shall be communicated and presented annually, so that the overall knowledge of the scope and development of criminality is given. Separate in-depth analyses of individual topics shall also be carried out based on the data from the surveys.
