At the end of 2018, RAG Aktiengesellschaft (RAG) ended the extraction, refining and sale of hard coal. With the processing of the so-called perpetual tasks and the finite tasks, RAG remains responsible in the mining regions. The perpetual tasks are the processing of mining consequences that require technical and logistical measures for an indefinite period of time. These include mine water management, polder measures above ground as well as groundwater purification at some former coking plant sites and groundwater monitoring at contaminated sites. Within the scope of these tasks, expert services in the fields of ventilation technology and outgassing control are required again and again.
