The ADR (Accord European Relatif au Transport International du Merchandis Dangereuses par Route (European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road)) requires Fuel Vehicles to be subjected to elapsed time Intermediate (Leak-proof) and Periodic (Hydraulic) examinations. These are to be conducted by Examination Bodies accredited by the Competent Body of the EU country in which the vehicle or equipment is operating (in this instance, TüV Germany). In addition to the periodic testing it also defines the requirement and safety precautions for gas freeing, tank cleaning, changing of grade/product and fuel vehicle tank repair. Compliance with the European Regulations is mandated for the operation of all Ministry Of Defence fuel carrying vehicles.
