Description:
Genomic-based Surveillance of Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter Baumannii at the European level

The overall objectives of this call for tender are:

1) to conduct a molecular survey to determine the occurrence, geographic distribution and the population dynamics of high-risk CRAb clones through a multi-centre hospital survey;

2) to identify the epidemiological risk factors for infection or colonisation of hospitalised patients with CRAb based on the data collected in the survey;

3) t o build a sustainable reference lab networTo k for detection and surveillance of CRAb;

4) to build laboratory capacity by training for laboratories and hospitals on the methodology for the species identification and phenotypic and genotypic resistance testing for A. baumannii;

5) to assess, with an EQA, the proficiency of laboratories for the species identification and phenotypic and genotypic resistance testing for A. baumannii;

6) to support the development of technical capability and proficiency for genomic-based surveillance and risk assessment of multidrug-resistant bacteria with epidemic potential.

The overall objectives of this call for tender are:

1) to conduct a European molecular survey to determine the occurrence, geographic distribution and the population dynamics of high-risk CRAb clones and/or transmissible resistance/genetic elements of critical public health importance in Europe through a structured multi-centre hospital-based survey;

2) to identify the epidemiological risk factors for infection or colonisation of hospitalised patients with CRAb based on the data collected in the survey;

3) to build a sustainable reference laboratory network for detection and surveillance of CRAb;

4) to build laboratory capacity by providing training for laboratories and hospitals on the methodology for the species identification and phenotypic and genotypic resistance testing for A. baumannii;

5) to assess, with an external quality assessment (EQA) exercise, the proficiency of laboratories for the species identification and phenotypic and genotypic resistance testing for A. baumannii;

6) to support participating countries in developing technical capability and proficiency for genomic-based surveillance and risk assessment of multidrug-resistant bacteria with epidemic potential.
