Object of the contract:
The Belgian nuclear research center in Mol, SCK CEN, is one of the largest research centers in Belgium. It is committed to the development of peaceful medical and industrial applications of nuclear science. The company is located in the "nuclear" industrial zone of Mol-Dessel-Geel, near the Bocholt-Herentals canal.
The objective of the project is to purify nuclear residues from the production of medical isotopes for the treatment and diagnosis of cancer, and to convert them into a new usable form. To this end, SCK CEN is planning the construction of a new infrastructure for the process in nuclear “hot cell” facilities, and further in glove and zipper cases.
The infrastructure and technical installations of the project form a new nuclear construction project, as a result of which, in addition to conventional norms, standards and legislation, additional requirements and monitoring by the FANC (Federal Agency for Nuclear Control) are applicable. The facilities are considered to be class 1 new nuclear facilities.
The current call is addressed to manufacturers interested in the transfer.
