The University's is seeking to award a multi supplier framework for hire of plant with operator. The University has a commercial archaeological Unit embedded in the School of Archaelogy and Ancient History, called University Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS). ULAS offer a comprehensive, integrated service for all types of archaeological and heritage projects. For fieldwork-based projects, ULAS often use external suppliers to help with digging trenches and moving spoil (excavated material) around the sites. The Contract will initially run for a 3 year period, commencing on 1 July 2023 and ending on 30 June 2026 with one optional annual extension periods until 30 June 2027. The Contract will run into the optional years following satisfactory agreement between the University and the successful tenderer(s).

ULAS offer a comprehensive, integrated service for all types of archaeological and heritage projects. For fieldwork-based projects, ULAS often use external suppliers to help with digging trenches and moving spoil (excavated material) around the site. ULAS staff don’t operate plant themselves as they specialise in the archaeology (focussing on construction tasks would not be cost effective), so always hire operated plant. The Contract will initially run for a 3 year period, commencing on 1 July 2023 and ending on 30 June 2026 with one optional annual extension periods until 30 June 2027. The Contract will run into the optional years following satisfactory agreement between the University and the successful tenderer(s).
